Quality ressources

Yan Zhen, director of ZBQSIQ, says though there is no major recall of Zhejiang toys, there are some small quality problems and and this has brought some negative effect on toys bearing the "Made in Zhejiang" tag.

Between June and October, there were a total of 20 cases identified concerning the unqualified toys of Zhejiang, of which two were found in the U.S. and 10 in the European Union. Following that, ZBQSIQ conducted a three-month campaign and audit of the province's toy manufacturers. They checked 486 toy makers, ordered 94 to rectify their businesses and cancelled the quality certificates of 21 companies.

Lou Liuyan from ZBQSIQ says that an enterprise is the first party to be responsible for product quality, and the signing of the pledge with toy makers is to control toy quality at the root and prevent any quality accidents from occurring.

Zhejiang is one of the main toy manufacturing bases in China. There are more than 1000 toy manufacturers and over 400 toy exporters in the province, including 172 enterprises that have obtained a toy exporting certificate, and their products are mainly sold in developed regions like Europe, the U.S. and Japan.
